Overview
This training course discusses international regulatory instruments on the establishment of physical protection systems and the IAEA recommendations on the equipment of protected areas with engineering and technical means of physical protection.
The participants carry out an analysis of threats for the facility, describe the types of threats and recommendations on design basis threats. They determine the possible ways to increase the effectiveness of the physical protection system.
The training course includes considerations on physical protection barriers as a delay system at the facility. Special considerations on the use of various physical principles for detecting unauthorized actions at the perimeters of protected areas and inside buildings/structures. How to choose and justify the use of security systems considering the configuration of premises and terrain features.
The training course presents recommendations for the access control and management system as well as various types of access control systems.
The participants become aware of application the situation assessment system. Technical characteristics of cameras and lenses. Details of the installation of cameras. Determination of the sensing areas of camera with respect to various visual tasks.
The training course outlines the general recommendations for equipment of alarm stations.
It covers the maintenance work for engineering and technical means of physical protection.
Practical exercises using training laboratories and grounds of engineering and technical means take up more than 40% of the training time.
