Training Modules Russian reactor technology and NPP system design (focusing VVER) Provides understanding of organization of VVER based NPP, its supply chain, general concepts of refueling and maintenance. Fuel cycles: from mining to waste disposal Provides understanding of procedures to treat special nuclear and non-nuclear materials as well as operational wastes and spent fuel. Siting procedures and criteria Provides understanding of principles and consideration in site evaluation including issues on radionuclides migration (atmosphere and hydrology) and human induced events. Fuel cycle economics Provides understanding of the main financial needs to support life cycle of NPP. Radiation & Environmental safety Provides understanding of radiation effects, radioecological safety, environmental monitoring, international and Russian standards. Safety culture Provides understanding of general principles of safety culture and its implementation along NPP life cycle. Licensing issues Provides understanding of licensing procedure National and International Safeguards and Accounting Standards Provides understanding of general principles and technologies of material control, accounting and physical protection. Planning and organization of commissioning (split package and turnkey approaches) Provides understanding of organizational structure of commissioning procedure, IAEA and vendor recommendations Education & Training programmes in vendor country (Russian federation) supporting nuclear capacity building Provides understanding of Russian university programmes (BS, MS, specialists) oriented to NPP HR capacity building, on-the-job training programmes, specifics of career development for NPP operators.
