On 24 June the Topical School “Fast Reactors” initiated by the Block for Innovation Management of the State Corporation “Rosatom” with the assistance of IPPE was opened in the Central Institute for Continuing Education&Training (CICET). The attendees of the “Fast Reactors” School are students, post graduates and young professionals from Russian Nuclear Universities and State Scientific Centre “ Institute of Physics and Power Engineering” (IPPE) that is the heart of the fast breeder development programme in Russia.
The main objectives of the School are as follows:
- attraction, targeted selection and guidance of students, post-graduates and young professionals towards projects related to design, construction and operation of fast reactors;
- setting up a field-specific communication platform and enhancing opportunities for preservation and transfer of critical knowledge regarding fast reactors.
During the “Fast Reactor” School a comprehensive set of lectures is scheduled from the side of leading experts and professionals from Russia and abroad about various aspects of design and operation of research and commercial fast reactors. Within the School programme technical tour of the IPPE test facilities is organized.
Of special note is the lectures delivered by the invited speaker Prof.Alan Waltar, Past President of American Nuclear Society and the author of the classical textbook on fast reactors. The in-depth presentations were made by the foremost authorities from IPPE: L.A. Kochetkov, V.I.Rachkov, V.S.Kagramanyan.
