Rosatom Technical Academy Conducted Three Courses on Physical Protection for Employees of AKKUYU NÜKLEER JSC

At the site of the Akkuyu NPP under construction in the Republic of Turkey, specialists from the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Institute of Rosatom Technical Academy completed the spring training phase consisting of three courses on the following topics: “Implementation and operation of complexes of physical protection engineering and technical means”, “Physical Protection of Nuclear Facilities” and “Physical Protection of Radioactive Sources in Use”.

Employees of AKKUYU NÜKLEER JSC subdivisions responsible for nuclear security learnt about the international regulatory and legal framework in the field of nuclear security, the basic principles of the structure and design procedure of physical protection equipment complexes for nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities, and other issues. The training of AKKUYU NÜKLEER JSC employees became the next stage of the comprehensive training plan for the nuclear security specialists of the Akkuyu NPP.

The courses were based on international practice, in particular, the IAEA Nuclear Security Series, and the Russian experience, including the construction of other nuclear facilities abroad. At the end of the training, the trainees received certificates that are necessary for the validity of the licence of any nuclear facility and a guarantee of reliable physical protection of the Akkuyu NPP.
