The annual meeting of the International Nuclear Security Education Network INSEN was held at the IAEA on July 18-22, 2022.
The results over the past year were summed up. The experts of three INSEN working groups are engaged in the information exchange and educational materials for nuclear security education development; teachers advanced training; promotion of education in the field of nuclear security and INSEN activities.
The Annual Meeting of INSEN was attended by representatives of Rosatom Technical Academy Egor Bologov and Natalya Zhdanova.
The activities of the GNSSI based on the results over the past period were noted:
- The Institute, in common with the IAEA, conducted 8 courses on nuclear security. One of the most interesting was the International Training Course on Computer Security. The course was conducted in a hybrid format, when part of the students studied full–time, in the academy classroom, and the other part — online.
- Representatives of the Institute participated in IAEA events, including a report presentation at the International Conference on Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources, June 20-24, 2022.
- Authorial teaching materials were developed for 6 international courses.
- An internship of Tomsk Politechnic University students was held: specialization in nonproliferation issues.
- 8 publications have been prepared and released, including https://rosatomtech.ru/media/news-article/cherez-insen-steykholderam-yadernoy-bezopasnosti/
- Marketing materials, where the Institute's employees work in the INSEN network is mentioned, have been developed.
The meeting also noted the role of the IAEA in educational activities on nuclear security. The IAEA NSNS develops and implements appropriate measures. The work on ensuring the sustainability and impact assessment of nuclear security Educational Programs, Master's degree programs and advanced training courses for teachers in nuclear security education is carried out in cooperation with Member States and INSEN institutions, including International, Regional and National nuclear security Schools.
INSEN is a partnership in which the IAEA, educational and research institutions, as well as other interested parties cooperate to promote sustainable education in the field of nuclear security. Today INSEN has almost 200 members, where 80% provide nuclear security training.
