Call for applications – Operation Issues of the Turbine Island for NPP with VVER

About the course

The course, organized jointly by Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and Rosatom Technical Academy, focuses on the main design and operational issues of steam turbines, feedwater heaters, turbine island auxiliary equipment, and also steam turbine piping and valves for Russian VVER NPP technology. The purpose of the course is to train professors and specialists from new entrant countries who would like to use nuclear power. English is the working language.

Eligible Candidates

The course is designed for professors, lecturers, researchers, as well as post-graduate students, final year undergraduate students and specialists, who are involved in initiation or development of nuclear curricula at universities in the countries embarking on nuclear programs, in particular, considering or constructing NPPs with VVER technology.

The selection of the candidates will be made by Rosatom Technical Academy based on the Application.

The main topics of the course:

•Flow sheet of NPP with VVER,

•Design and characteristics of thermomechanical equipment,

•Management of operation of turbine island equipment,

•Practical training: operating experience of the Leningradskaya NPP-2.

The course includes lectures and practical tasks developed by leading Russian experts from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), and a technical tour to the Leningradskaya NPP.

Date: 27th November – 10th December 2023.

Duration: 72 academic hours.

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Türkiye are invited to attend the course in person (in Saint-Petersburg, Russia). 

Citizens of other countries are invited to take part in the course online.

The application deadline is 15th October 2023 for candidates who need a visa for in-person participation, 23rd October 2023 for candidates who do not need a visa in-person participation, and 15th November 2023 for online participation.

Fees and grants

Participation in the course is free of charge!

Candidates eligible for participation in person (within the quota) will be provided with flight tickets, accommodation and meals.
